WRAP IT UP
A few days ago we moved into our glamorous new pad, a much bigger, brighter space in West Chelsea in New York City.
Now that we've unpacked and had a chance to settle in, I can reflect on what a great time I had at the Wedding Party, the bridal showcase we hosted with the Wedding Library on Saturday. We featured a slew of really great vendors, from stationers to jewelers, and a few big names to boot. Famous gown designer Reem Acra advised brides choosing dresses to keep in mind the setting of their affairs, down to the tiniest details (you may not want a long train if you're walking down a carpeted aisle--it may not glide smoothly behind you). Event planning guru Preston Bailey stressed the importance of doing your homework before picking a destination wedding location (research climate and weather patterns, be sure the hotel can accommodate every guest, from grandparents to children, and bring pictures from magazines to demonstrate the kind of look you want for your reception). And Mark Ingram, owner of Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier, set the record straight about when to start gown shopping (at least 10 months before the wedding--by 7 months you should have narrowed it down to one inspiring choice).
You can read more about the event, as blogged by some of my favorite people in the wedding blog world. Thanks to Anne of Perfect Bound, Erica of Thoughtful Day, Vane of Brooklyn Bride, and BrideBoard for showing up and taking part in what was a really special day! |
