MEN WE LOVE
Mark Ingram looks right at home in a room
filled with wedding gowns. In fact, he's a
man who's made it his business to know his
Dutchess satin from his silk charmeuse.
Ingram is the owner of one of New York
City's rare species, a bridal salon that
offers a range of dresses from various
designers in an intimate setting, rather
than the anonymity of many department
stores."I learned a lot from working at
trunk and fashion shows. I have seen what
works and what doesn't" says Ingram, owner
of The Bridal Atelier, in a townhouse off
Park Avenue. His shop offers brides a
selection of dresses from multiple
points-of-view, and then guides her through
fittings and alteration.
Ingram cut his teeth working for bridal
fashion houses like Wearkstatt and Amsale
before opening his own shop in 2001. This
vast experience cultivated his vision. He
handpicks a wide variety of gowns to feature
exclusively from select designers like
Romona Keveza, Peter Langner, Angel Sanchez
and Anne Barge. "My favorite moment is when
a bride smiles and says, 'this is the one,'"
says Ingram.
His new addition is Sully Bonnelly, who
debuted his line only at The Bridal Atelier
in February. "His luxurious designs and
supreme craftsmanship are prefect for my
sophisticated brides," says Ingram. At his
atelier, gowns are a breed apart. -ERINN
